Tattoo regret is, unfortunately, a very real thing. Hence, it can never be stressed enough just how imperative it is to take the time, do the research, and think carefully about your decision to get inked. Thanks to today’s technology, experiencing what it’d be like to get a tattoo for the first time can be a little less intimidating.
A free app called InkHunter has been gaining some attention for its augmented reality abilities. Functioning as a virtual tattoo parlor of sorts, it allows users to try on various tattoo designs on their skin without actually getting inked. The way it works is pretty simple. You draw a trio of lines in a smiley face on the area of your skin where you want to be “tattooed”. Upon placing your camera upon it, the area will turn into whatever design you chose when you fired up the app. There are several distinct designs to choose from including color tattoos, black and white, realistic, or even cartoon options. You can also add your own choice of tattoo. If you just want to add some words to your skin, there is also an option for that.
While InkHunter isn’t perfect, it does go a significantly long way in helping you visualize what a tattoo would look like on your skin without actually having to get inked, at least not until you’re fully committed to your decision. It is available for Android and iOS devices.
