For those of us living in South Florida, the beckoning of the beach is always hard to resist. As we wind down the spring and approach the sultry temperatures of the summer, more of us will be spending a weekend catching some rays and staying cool on the ocean. However, if you’re planning on getting inked this summer it’s best that you stay away from taking a dip in the ocean, at least for two weeks or so.
To those that have never been tattooed, there are several steps that need to be taken to ensure that the tattoo and skin heal properly. One of these steps is not to enter the sea or freshwater after getting tattooed. You may be wondering why. Remember that with a fresh tattoo the skin is almost like a wound that needs to heal and is, therefore, more exposed to bacteria. Hence, it’s important to gently clean the tattoo regularly and take proper care of it.
As tempting as it might be to go swimming in Miami Beach after getting freshly inked, make sure you hold off until your tattoo has properly healed.
